AI lab strategies are like dance styles—some need the waltz's precision, others the mosh pit's chaos. One size doesn't fit all. #AIResearch #SciencePolicy #LabCulture #HigherEd

Following in Charlie's footsteps on the snack front because the science = hard 😭. As a #ricelab postdoc @ #rockefeller 10+ years ago there were always snacks to fuel #virology. Now I try to do small things like this for my people to brighten their day. #lablife #traderjoes #charlierice #labculture

An unlikely lab member with a ‘dogtorate’ in morale management: Meet Zazil, the rescue dog in the Translational Sensory and Circadian Neuroscience lab. She taught everyone a thing or two about resilience and persistence.

Scientific progress depends on alignment – not just instruments. We help teams uncover where communication quietly breaks down – and why that matters more than any assay.

𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨. 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. In many labs I’ve seen, the friction isn’t technical – it’s interpersonal: Technicians stay in their lane. Lab leads translate upwards, if at all. Managers operate on filtered fragments. The result? 🧪 Projects stall for reasons no one can quite name. 📉 Promising data disappears into drafts that never leave the team. ⏱ And months go by without real progress – just activity. You’d think communication is a given in science. But often, it’s the first thing to break – and the last thing people want to talk about. What fascinates me most in my work: Labs don’t need more tools. They need 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 between roles – subtle, built on trust, and completely invisible when it works. #LifeSciences #ScientificConsulting #DrugDiscovery #CELLIMA CELLIMA Scientific Service GmbH

Stepping into a PI role, this Nature piece is a timely reminder of the shift in power dynamics that comes with it.

It is a prompt to be more mindful of how one's responses might shape openness and debate in the lab.

Open, honest conversations in the lab are key for creativity—and mental health. Psychological safety means people feel comfortable sharing ideas without fear of ridicule. It’s the foundation of trust in research teams 💡 #LabCulture #TalkingPapersThoughtLoop

Open communication thrives when team members feel safe taking risks and sharing new ideas. A strong psychological safety net—like a "circle of safety"—is linked to greater creativity, trust, and mental well-being in research labs 🧠 #LabCulture #TalkingPapersThoughtLoop
