Meritocracy is bleak.

Someday I will manage to explain to people that just because something is made for profit by private parties doesn't make it not propaganda.

The idea that propaganda has to mean state produced agitprop was the best lie capitalism ever sold (other than meritocracy)

Remember this next time one of these MFs is like "we need to judge people based on the character and not the colour of their skin". El Sayed is one of the most intelligent, eloquent, charming, compassionate politicians I have seen but he's Muslim so he bad.

Meritocracy my ass.

He and Rogan are absolute excoriations of the meritocracy.

That dude’s combination of arrogance and inability to read the political tea leaves is astounding… and evidence there is definitely no meritocracy in American journalism. I’m sure he’s Sulzberger’s fave.

Another product of “meritocracy”

Okay, enough doom and gloom. How tf do we prevent a "culture war" a second time? A true meritocracy. Because we didn't have one before. And we damn sure don't have one now! And competent white men in charge HAVE to stop telling their incompetent brethren that WE are why THEY weren't hired.

One of the richest guys in the world is a complete moron. This mut be the famous meritocracy

Meritocracy!
Markwayne Mullin can barely talk

The piece of fiction this stuff calls to mind is the Stephen King short story about the brothers introducing chemicals into the global water supply, the ones that make everyone too stupid to speak and spell

Meritocracy is back, baby!
An unknown start up company with no track record or credentials has received massive no-bid contracts from Hegseth's DOD. Its secret? It's owned by Trump's sons Uday and Qusay. Pure corruption. www.wsj.com/business/the...
The Wild Rise of a Trump-Backed Drone Company
Ex-soldier Brett Velicovich turned a presidential social media shout-out into a $300 million drone startup.

I'm starting to question meritocracy

Elite media editors have been caught doing this far too often, especially with featured (and coddled) "undecided voters"

They keep doing it because not only are there no consequences, they're often failed upwards (by the same mediocre legacy old men who push their "meritocracy" narrative)
"Six of the “lifelong Democrats” and “former Obama voters” are actually elected Republicans

"Undecided voters" literal Republican operatives who NYT suspiciously never Googled and were mysteriously chosen:

New York Times' ongoing undecided young voters focus group works at a Republican consulting
Each quoted post and each nested thread they're in have even more examples of "undecided voters" showing they're literal Republican operatives and consultants

According to their own LinkedIn and previous interviews where it was more useful they speak as Republican instead of as "undecided"

Black Americans are attacked as unqualified, while Indian and Asian Americans are attacked for being too successful. @janecoaston.bsky.social and @timmiller.bsky.social expose the contradiction in the right's racial grievances:

“Meritocracy is when I do well. It's not when anybody else does well.”

Ah yes, the fabled capitalist "meritocracy".

I hate it here

If this ain't a metaphor for American 'meritocracy' right now I don't know what is.

Fucks sakes.
My daughter assembled an excellent Halloween costume — Katniss from the Hunger Games — worked super hard and nailed it. But at school, she finished second in the “best costume” voting to a boy who had no costume at all. This kid decided he wanted to win ironically, with support from his boys.

meritocracy a red flag... in the bad sense

Ladies and gentlemen, the meritocracy
Sounds like DOJ lawyers sat at the wrong table, and the State of CA lawyers had to tell them to switch.

"You guys are the plaintiffs"

My mind still blocks on the lottery because I have naively nurtured this myth of science as a real meritocracy.

Interesting approach to Stevens vs. El-Sayed is meritocracy; the latter has magnificent resume demonstrating a lot of capability and achievement whereas Stevens got ahead in the institutional Dem Party that values loyalty and time-serving. Do voters alienated from U.S. meritocracy prefer Stevens?

Evander James Reyes interviews Lauren Rothery about her debut novel, TELEVISION. They talked about celebrity, luck, and the myth of meritocracy.

From Woke Suicide to Imperial Meritocracy

Over the next 10 years (2026–2036), China and Russia will devour fragmented welfare states that turned off their civilizational immune system, while only an Imperial Meritocracy can win the century.

MAGA is the antithesis of a civilized society, of a meritocracy, of democracy, of progress, of fairness, of opportunity, of justice.
