Having just inhaled SBS's incredibly important #PeoplevsRobodebt, the Morrison Government's clinical persecution of our most vulnerable citizens, driving them to despair & sometimes death, is shocking all over again.

When will someone finally be held accountable for this cataclysmic failure?

After warning DHS Robodebt will cause suicides, Colleen Taylor spks on finding out Rhys Cauzzo took his life

Here is an excellent article in @crikey.com.au by @beneltham.bsky.social on the ongoing mutual obligations crisis, and the tribunal decision which is the basis of this analysis:

Everyone thinks they're the good guys! There are several people named by the Royal Commission as having done awful things who are still swanning around Canberra university boardrooms telling everyone how they were one of the good ones.

Miller talks about feeding stories to the tabloids. “Oh we’re the good guys”, she reassures Tudge.

Ohmigods. You are spinner in chief for an unlawful government program and you think you’re the good guys

X-thread for the panel featuring @asherwolf.bsky.social, Jenny Miller, Felicity Button, Colleen Taylor. Hosted by Guardian reporter Chris Knaus who did so much to cover the issue for them.

Just finished watching #PeopleVsRobodebt. Great television but absolutely devastating viewing. Reminded me all over again how much I despised the LNP government. Come on #NACC, do your job! #auspol

Felicity says she can't do what Asher does online because she just wants to watch cat videos. Asher says when people can do that without worrying about the government, that's when we'll know we've won. Good note to end on!

KNAUS: Are we going to see this more in the future with AI, Asher?

ASHER: It hasn't stopped. It's not enough to put people in jail. It's about rights. We need systemic change across the board of the Commonwealth, not Liberal & Labor. The next class action is around the corner.

KNAUS: Jenny, there hasn't been accountability for what they did to your son. Has there been any semblance of justice?

MILLER: I believe it was a criminal act that should be proseucted in court. As a bare minimum, everyone involved should be stripped of benefits & accolades.

CORDELL: Even if you haven't been on welfare, we've all done battle with the banks or the government in some other way. The rise of AI threatens these rights too. It's about much more than just Robodebt.

Deloitte's $440,000 report to DEWR on Targeted Compliance Framework issues was subsequently released, and found to be riven with AI-hallucinated references to non-existent social security law papers and hallucinated legal analysis.

Felicity and Jenny thanking SBS and the production for the mental health support. Asher wants them to look out for the make-up person, who revealed she had a debt of her own. Us women are going to band together and harass the other TV stations, says Felicity.

Patreon @asherwolf.bsky.social = not a guaranteed income. Asher was not the only one involved in #NotMyDebt. Blows my mind that there wasn't an outcome of the Royal Commission of those involved getting paid *something* for what they had done, which AFAIK was voluntary. #PeopleVSRobodebt
KNAUS: Asher, your work in late 2016 to amplify those voices with @not_my_debt, I remember thinking how selfless it was to do that unpaid.

ASHER: I was getting paid, I had a Patreon as a backstop. What sustained me was the people I have met, including panelists.

KNAUS: Felicity, do you feel like there's been enough reform and change since?

FELICITY: They've come up with new ways of punishing us. They're better at not getting caught. I won't accept an apology. We're going to change things whether they like it or not.

As @christopherrudge.bsky.social continued to probe this report to DEWR, he found the AI had also hallucinated a judgement and fake quotes and references from Deanna Amato's Robodebt test case with Vic LegalAid!
