#Polysomnogram
Diagnosed is an overnight polysomnogram followed by a MSLT where they check to see how long it takes you to fall asleep for naps and if you have intrusive REM cycles

I think something went horrificially wrong with your polysomnogram.

We keep on burning calories when we sleep, but less. Depending on how deep one sleeps and how long. Over the night, body energy use might go down by as much as a third, but it does start to go up, a bit, before waking up. 🧪

Oh yeah… I’d be happy to administer his polysomnogram and put his FAT ASS on BIPAP 🤣🤣

44. sleep and wakefulness

a "polysomnogram" is used to measure a night of sleep. it is built out of:

- electroencephalogram (EEG) for brain activity
- electro-oculogram (EOG) for eye movement
- electromyogram (EMG) for muscle tone

in sleep disorder studies, respiration will often be tracked too.

@ringworm.bsky.social I brought your book to the polysomnogram I don't think I need to test for the sleep apnea I don't think I have. It seemed appropriate.

You Must Understand This If You Want To Live

you’ll want to talk to a sleep specialist first, if you don’t have sleep apnea and want to go for an IH diagnosis that requires an overnight polysomnogram plus a daytime MSLT (multi-sleep latency test) afterwards

After having our first taste of being a lab rat through a polysomnogram, it is truly fucked up that we didn't come out the other side with any weird robotic or monster parts. Like what's the POINT?

Obstructive #SleepApnea requires tailored treatment options like positive airway pressure, oral appliances, and weight loss interventions to effectively manage symptoms and comorbidities.

I had a follow-up call with my respiratory clinician this morning for my CPAP. She said my numbers look excellent - I've gone down from an AHI of 47.1 to 0.2.

I still have to go for my polysomnogram but I think my bariatric doctor is going to be happy.

I had to spend my Deipnon at the sleep centre getting a polysomnogram. 0/10, do not recommend. I slept like crap, because the guy they put in the next room was snoring like a chainsaw and the weight of the leads on my head was just too much. Tech woke me up at 5:30 AM, and politely told me to GTFO.

Screening tool aids diagnoses of child sleep disorders
An EHR-based screening tool improved the diagnosis and referral rates for pediatric sleep disorders, according to a study in JAMA Network Open. The tool was used in 92.5% of well-child visits a year after implementation. Clinicians were 64% more likely to diagnose a sleep disorder when using the tool and about three to six times more likely to order a polysomnogram or refer to a sleep or otolaryngology specialist. Google’s clinical sleep lead has cool ideas for the future of smartwatch sleep data
Wear OS Weekly My weekly column focuses on the state of Wear OS, from new developments and updates to the latest apps and features we want to highlight. Smartwatches have tracked sleep for years, but as we see more sleep coaching, energy scores, sleep apnea detection, and general AI analysis, it's fair to question how accurate a Pixel Watch's data is compared to, say, a polysomnogram or actigraphy watch.

I’ve been on BiPAP for obstructive sleep apnea for 10 years. All was well until I started being really tired a year ago. So my doc had me do an in-lab sleep test (polysomnogram) in June and ordered a replacement machine, which I finally got in Sept. …

Over night polysomnogram and 4 of the 5 naps for the multiple sleep latency test down. I’ve fallen asleep for each nap so far so it’ll be interesting to see the results if my sleep latency has changed and if I’ve reached REM at all during any of them. I remember dreaming but we’ll see what data says
