It's amazing that any programmer would look at the "take an icepick to the parts of your brain that you use to program" machine and think this is a good idea.

Absolutely not meant in a callous way despite it being a funny thought and scenario, by the way - my game designer/programmer brain is used to looking for edge cases so I'm genuinely and respectfully curious about this.

it’s kind of this weird ritual among sysadmins, devops and go have kinda killed it and its incomprehensible to people with programmer brain but there used to be a rich culture of Perl and bash tryhards.

I used to feel comfortable saying things like "I don't know how to code" or "I'm not actually a programmer" but now I worry that people will think that means my games are vibecoded. They are not. I didn't know how to code, but through using search engines and a human brain, I was able to make games.
Making stuff is HARD, but your shitty output is HUMAN and REAL, and most importantly it doesn't look like Facebook Studio Ghibli corpo speak with an empty gameplay loop, and it doesn't get you banned from the jam.

I don’t think I’ll ever be a good programmer, I’m bad at math and stuff haha but I’m happy with how far I’ve come so far. Also I mean it’s hard to learn new things I feel like, my brain at 34 isn’t the same as my brain when I was younger haha. But I’ve been doing my best :)
