#Reductase
Then in the 70s, other syndromes, such as 5alpha-reductase-2 deficiency were identified, which caused babies to look like one sex at birth, then the other at puberty. Worse, in some places 1 in 50 infants had this natural sex change, it was not rare there.

very interesting to me that prog is a weak 5a reductase inhibitor because i don't see that mentioned as much in community discussions

H3-H4 histone dimers act as copper reductase. This is important because ETC and SOD1 require bio-usable Cu+ for function. This article shows a new mechanism by which chromatin histones can affect the cell metabolism via a new role in metal processing #redoxepigenetics www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
The histone H3-H4 tetramer is a copper reductase enzyme
A eukaryotic histone complex can package DNA but is also a cupric reductase that provides biousable Cu1+ for the cell.

4 XX individuals can have male characteristics (SRY gene differences, 5 alpha reductase deficiency)

Not to mention sex and gender aren’t the same & can be non congruent

Making up executive orders doesn’t change science.

I didn't know you were a carrier for quinoid dihydropteridine reductase autosomal recessive tetrahydrobiopterin-deficient hyperhenylalaninemia due to quinoid dihydropteridine reductase deficiency. What's that like

Antifungal 'Nystatin' is named for the NY State Department of Health.

'Statins', on the other hand, are from Latin 'stare' meaning to "stay or hold still" for their ability to slow or stop cholesterol production via inhibition of liver enzyme HMG-CoA reductase.
Chemist Rachel Fuller Brown was born #OTD in 1898. She co-discovered the antifungal nystatin while doing research for the New York State Department of Health, hence the name. (1/2) 🧪 👩‍🔬

One time I had to do a “peer to peer” because the patients insurer insisted on choosing the patient’s anticoagulation.

I asked the guy, who clearly wasn’t my peer, to tell me what he knew about Vitamin K epoxide reductase but it turns out he wasn’t too interested in that.

'She is an #intersex woman ...'

Wrong. Caster Semenya has the condition 5α-Reductase 2 deficiency, which only affects genetic males.

Thrilled to share our new paper @Chouchani Lab in Cell; what a great way to end this year! We establish a deep mapping of the zinc-binding human cysteine proteome (ZnCPT) and discover glutathione reductase as zinc-targetable cancer vulnerability. www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...
The human zinc-binding cysteine proteome
A deep mapping of the human zinc-binding cysteine proteome (ZnCPT) defines thousands of zinc-binding protein cysteines across major domains of biology and discovers glutathione reductase as zinc-targetable cancer vulnerability.

From now on, at the beginning of any “peer to peer” reviews I’m going to give my “peer” a little quiz. Don’t know what Vitamin K epoxide reductase does? I get it. Coagulation is hard. But you’re clearly not my peer. And you don’t get to pick my patients anticoagulant.

Sex development is incomplete, & virilisation of external genitalia which depends on conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) catalysed by the 5α-reductase enzyme, is atypical. A result of a mutation of the SRD5A2 gene located on chromosome 2 causing 5α-reductase type 2 deficiency.
