I wasn't rescued, I was taken, and the united church is complicit in its role of human trafficking. 🥚 #sixtiesscoop #interracialadoption

We deserve answers. Our parents deserve to know that this was not their failure, but a deliberate campaign to fracture our families. #sixtiesscoop 🥚

The #SixtiesScoop was an entire generation of stolen Indigenous children by churches and government to fulfill yt Christian families. It hasn't really ended. Now it's just the foster care industry 🥚

I am happy for the family and for raising awareness of the #SixtiesScoop! However, these kinds of blissful reunions are not the norm - trauma runs deep. We need support for successful reunification and reconnection to community. 🥚

"It will also prevent adoptees from flying domestically without additional documentation as Real ID enforcement begins."

Many #SixtiesScoop survivors were sold over the border for farm and domestic help and remain in the US, some without access to our original birth docs 🥚
Partly because the Adoptee Citizenship Act is constantly ignored. 🤬🥚
Thousands of international adoptees in the United States are living in legal limbo, facing restricted access to essential benefits and the constant threat of deportation due to a failure to formalize their citizenship. 🥚 #adopteesky mwakilishi.com/article/immi...

Its pro-saviour propaganda. As a newborn interracial adoptee, I did not "fare well" mentally, and rejected Christianity at adolescence.

Actually, familial cultural connection is a protective factor for FNMI #SixtiesScoop adoptees: fpcfr.com/index.php/FP...

Lots more where that came from. 🥚

Last night I caught part of a miniseries on @pbs.org called Little Bird. It's based on a true story about the "sixties scoop" of indigenous children from their families in Canada.

Highly recommend you check it out. Grab some tissues. 💔 #littlebird #genocide #sixtiesscoop #indigenous #PBS

The latest annual report from Alberta's child advocate on youth in the Alberta child welfare system shows the continuation of too many Indigenous youth being severely injured or dying while in the system, or shortly after leaving.
Advocate in Alberta says majority of kids dying in care are Indigenous
Alberta youth advocate Terri Pelton says 72 per cent of children who died in care were First Nation, Inuit or Métis.
