We also provide further evidence related to the nature of the attached #ubiquitin chains and report the ubiquitylation of the glycogenin protein covalently attached to unbranched glycogen, ubiquitylation of which occurs on two C-terminal GYG1 lysine residues.

Ubiquitin ligase RNF126 exerts functions in lysosomal damage response and lysosomal homeostasis maintenance
The response to lysosomal membrane permeabilization involves extensive ubiquitylation at the lysosome; however, the ubiquitin ligases identified so far cannot account for the complexity of the respons...

Online Now: A CK2-β-TrCP kinase-E3 ubiquitin ligase cascade is a metabolic sensor regulating tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase stability Online now:
A CK2-β-TrCP kinase-E3 ubiquitin ligase cascade is a metabolic sensor regulating tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase stability
How metabolic enzyme levels are regulated is poorly understood. Studying the tryptophan (Trp)-metabolizing enzyme TDO2, Thielen et al. discover a CK2 kinase-β-TrCP E3 ligase pathway that regulates stability in response to substrate availability. Trp occupation of an exosite restricts degron accessibility, whereas low Trp releases the degron for phosphorylation-ubiquitylation-mediated degradation.

Dundee researchers launch targeted Parkinson’s trial
DUNDEE researchers are taking part in an international trial testing a targeted treatment for Parkinson’s disease. The NEULARK trial is exploring whether a precision medicine approach could slow the progression of the condition in people with LRRK2-driven Parkinson’s. Researchers at the University of Dundee’s Medical Research Council Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit are among a select group of research centres involved in the Phase 2 clinical trial.

Holy shit that looks amazing. Reminds me a bit of seeing talks from a scientist who talked about Incan knotting as a way to explain protein modifications.
(I was almost afraid to look him up...no one would ever say his last name, which wasn't US English in origin.)

It's always a treat to actually sit down and read a paper. This one's really nice. Unlike some plant hormones such as auxins that act through ubiquitylation + protein degradation, salicylic acid (SA) activates gene expression via its receptor/transcription factor NPR1. The paper elucidates
