Harm reduction makes you think ICE detention centers are not "too" fascist if you're not at risk of being trafficked to one. Give voters a better reason to vote. #abolishICE #MedicareForAll #UniversalBasicIncome

It's not logic that keeps nonvoters away from the polls. It's not believing that their vote makes a difference. "At least vote for my interests and then we will take care of you later" is not a winning slogan. #MedicareForAll #UniversalBasicIncome

If AI creates an age of abundance, who gets to share in it? Elon Musk now predicts that AI and robotics could lead not merely to Universal Basic Income, but to “universal high income” as technology dramatically increases production of goods and services. zurl.co/WWif9

I suspect that people will get along better if #BasicIncome existed. If more people worry less about affording life, they might be less likely to #blame certain groups of people for their #problems.

SEN. WARREN: "They cut taxes and they always say ‘it's really going to pay off for you’ — every time academics come back say ‘What really happened is the richest people got richer and everybody else got left behind.’.. this is the 20.0 version of this.” (H/T @atrupar.com )

"People won't work if you give cash."

The evidence keeps piling up: guaranteed income increases employment and improves job quality.

In CA pilots, full‑time jobs rose up to 2x vs control; higher‑quality jobs 3x.

If inequality hadn't exploded after 1979, middle-income households would be making $30,000 MORE per year.

That's a second income. A paid-off car. A college fund. Instead, we're turning hobbies into side hustles just to keep up.

The money didn't disappear. It went to the top.

The Child Tax Credit is worth up to $2,200 per child.

But here's the SCAM—families who earn the least get the least help.

At the same time, billionaires who need the least get the biggest tax breaks.

This is what we're talking about when we say the economy is rigged.

The Trump corporate tax cut will cost $600 BILLION in lost federal revenue.

For every $100 of it, $75 went straight to the wealthiest 5% of households and foreign investors.

The bottom 80% of Americans got $10.

That is not trickle down. That is a heist.

🇰🇷 Gyeonggi’s youth basic income is still going. Introduced in 2019, the programme provides 1 million won a year to 24-year-olds, regardless of income. 25 of 31 cities and counties plan to continue programme in 2027 despite subsidy burden shift to 70% zurl.co/N9onq

Democratic Party had damn well *BETTER* offer a technologically updated New Deal ( #MedicareForAll & #UniversalBasicIncome would be *GREAT* provisions to include!)

bc we "only" have 50 years of #Reaganomics, #Neoliberalism, & #Corporatocracy *NOT* working‼️

Will Democrats offer Americans a New New Deal?
A new social pact will be needed in the wake of Trump’s trail of ruin.

What if ending extreme poverty could actually cost less than we think? New research from Columbia Business School estimates that targeted cash transfers of around $318 billion a year, just 0.3% of global GDP, could reduce global extreme poverty to about 1% zurl.co/ip0kP

Democrats have nothing to do with Communism.

Job growth under Democratic presidents far surpasses job growth under Republican presidents.

Both parties support mixed economies. Republicans subsidize corporations and the investor class. Dems subsidize basic human needs.

The choice is simple.

Last week I wrote about #UniversalBasicIncome and how it could help grievers, I’ve now gone a bit further and look at how #grieving after a #bereavement plays out in the #workforce

If #BasicIncome were $1,000 a month. I would still work. But if basic income were $2,000 a month, I would quit my current job and focus on producing more #art and how to make #money from that art.

Do you know how much the pay of CEOs at major companies has skyrocketed since 1978?

50%? 100%? 500%?

Try 1,316%

Meanwhile, the typical workers’ compensation increased only 28%.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.
