Bluesky can take more effort than heavily algorithm-driven sites, but the payoff’s much better.
My tips:
- Explore what makes Bluesky unique: feeds, starter packs, etc.
- Follow feeds and active users, and reply in threads! If you’re well-known, convos come to you. Until then, go to the convos!

THIS. User-driven social media is good; algorithm-driven social media is harmful.
I'm biased here but it strengthens my belief that global scale algorithmic social media is one of the worst inventions in human history. I'd delete it off the face of the earth without a second's hesitation

The algorithm actively killed any and all momentum my accounts had on other platforms.
I haven't surpassed 4k followers in over a decade because of algorithms recommending my art to the wrong people.
I surpassed that number in a year on BlueSky.
I'll never use an algorithm driven platform again.

"Bluesky having no algorithm" Is NOT a flaw.
All it takes to find new artists is to just visit an artist's page, look at their likes and/or reposts and see if you like some of the artists. You need no algorithm doing it for you.
That's how Tumblr had been uniting artists, until its fall in 2018.
