At this moment in 1954 at Bikini Atoll (6:45 AM March 1, local time), the US conducted its largest H-bomb test, Castle BRAVO (15 Megatons), which blasted a crater 1.23 miles wide and 250 feet deep.

Per @wellerstein.bsky.social, it was “the greatest single radiological disaster in American history.”

Can't be angry with people when no matter what we do, we can't effect change.

The system we have doesn't serve us. It only serves the 1%.

In another act of colonial #EthnicCleansing/#genocide, the US forcibly displaced all #BikiniIslanders so their home could be used for #NuclearWeapons tests. On #ThisDayInHistory in 1954 the #CastleBravo test at #BikiniAtoll created America's worst radioactive contamination event.
