For non-lawyers, the main case defining dishonesty in law (a component of various criminal offences) was a case about cheating in gambling.

According to Crockfords his wife's address is the vicarage in Bassingbourn (Royston, basically), which is even further out (it's over an hour on a bike), but they may of course have more than one home.

You can opt out of being in Crockfords. You can’t opt out of the National Register (though the latter seems to be less reliable).

Pondering the irony that I'm excited to be receiving 7 boxes of old Crockfords volumes on this very day.

There's also Crockfords Bridge Club on Riccarton rd on the left just past Clyde rd, down the driveway. Looking on CINCH, there are about 8-10 in Ōtautahi alone, and that's not counting the Chinese bridge group that meets at my local library, separate from the *other* bridge club that meets there 😅

Actually, maybe I could use that as a pressure point, as the team responsible for publishing Crockfords and the Yearbook were called Mr and Mrs Christmas when I worked for the NCIs.

I think it sounds like he started training on a part time/ summer course at Westcott and then effectively transferred to St John's, which would mean that only St John's shows up in his Crockfords entry.

Or, in this case, decide the name you know them buy is insufficiently formal for that context and guess, incorrectly, at the wallet name...

It's particularly annoying as I know they could have looked me up in Crockfords.

You mean it wasn’t? The ad’s in the old editions of Crockfords always appeal, but I imagine that Mystics Quarterly might have something more exotic than heating systems and candles.

We did once get a supplier of the latter asking for our rates to advertise in @vchlondon.bsky.social. if only…

Yes. Well printed Crockfords does but you can't search that. But the entries will be the same online and searchable

You should write at the bottom “taking a bit of milk from the fridge isn’t dishonest: Ivey v Genting Casinos UK Ltd t/a Crockfords Clubs) [2017] UKSC 67”

A question for #CofEPeeps / #CofE folk about Crockfords - do you include your personal or your work contact details?

Being fairly new to the whole thing, I’ve not yet got my head around who has access to and uses it.

Hi Pip. The suggestions already made are good ones. The key is finding the name of the Padre. If you can find that, either Crockfords or the online national clergy database can help - or I can. 🙏 for your discernment.

It is also making me feel a lot better about
a) Occasionally greeting my cat by saying "Hello my fluffy son", and
b) Once forcing a group of cathedral friends to be "entertained" with adverts from c19th Crockfords.
