I've gone back 40+ years to a tiny Z80 (actually eZ80) computer. I need to coax my brain into remembering how to drive CP/M 2.2 and how to write Z80 code!

And they still make a compatible replacement, the eZ80, which is cheaper and faster.

As it is written in C, I could get it working in z88dk or the eZ80 tools for Agon.

I needed to get a FAT filling system working on the Agon. I’d written all the low level SD stuff and was looking to write the file system. Discovered FatFS. It was more or less drop-in code even when compiled on a quirky and old Zilog C compiler for the eZ80 CPU. Saved me weeks of coding I reckon.
If you’ve ever logged data to an SD card or saved files on a #microcontroller, you've probably used FatFs without realizing it. As I'm working on a port for it, I'm reminded what a great embedded #OpenSource project looks like.

Here's a very brief meander my development memory lane which might be of interest due to the chip... the first industrial eZ80 controlled system I designed back in 2003/4 with the first eZ80F91 silicon which was drowning with errata! This handles a ton of communications via serial, USB and RS485.

i do think the idea of a color screen paired with an eZ80 is very cool though, the nspires are just arm i think? not as interesting to me

The eZ80 is an absolute heck of a chip, and Tom Jennings is poking at bringing MP/M back. Take some inspiration from the Agon Lite graphics, or follow @studio8502.ca and @adriansdigitalbasement.com reusing the Vera...

They still make an enhanced version of the Z80 called the eZ80, which is used in the current TI-84 model.

65816 is a bit different from 6502, mind. It's compatible, more or less, but massively extended.
I had another design, which welded an eZ80 to a VERA, but nobody was interested.
