the two-volume anthology brilliantly edited by Peter Parker which was the Times and Sunday Times History Book of the Year in 2024. volume 1 (1945-59) was compelling reading. I’m on volume 2 (1960-67) now

Who gets questioned in single-sex spaces?

Social policing may affect not only trans people, but anyone perceived as not “looking” like they belong.

Who is most at risk of this scrutiny? Share your thoughts below.

Really glad to have joined the board of the Good Night Out Campaign 💜

I am helping particularly on the legal side of the work, supporting the team as they continue pushing for safer, more inclusive nightlife.

“An example does not make the average.”

It’s a simple point, but one that’s repeatedly forgotten in discussions about trans people.

Really enjoyed unpacking this (and a lot more) with @www.helenwebberley.com Full podcast is now on YouTube.

A quiet but important line of reasoning has emerged from recent Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) decisions concerning the maximum compensation available under the Employment Equality Act to employees who resign before lodging a complaint. bit.ly/4gyvAD0

Is this right that when 40 days expire the EHRC's Code of Practice can not be automatically in operation. It still require Secretary of Dtate' order in line with the EA 2006

Europe just said trans women must be recognised within gender equality protections. At the same time, UK law is moving in a different direction.

Follow for clear explanations of what the law actually says. ⚖️

Almost everyone is getting this judgment wrong.
The law treats workplaces and public venues differently.
Which means a trans person could have to use one toilet while working — and another when they clock off.
Make it make sense. ⚖️

They’re not.

The Hampstead Heath ponds remain trans-inclusive! Yay 🥳 Well done @goodlawproject.org and team.

The law backed consultation, not exclusion. The challenge was brought too early and by a group with no standing.

Thoughts?

“If gender is a construct, why does it matter?”

Something being constructed does not mean it is not real.
It means humans built it and humans can change it.

“Trans people are ruining sports, right?”
No. That is fear, not facts.

There is no evidence that trans inclusion destroys sport. That is why rules are sport specific, not blanket bans.
