Labour is gaslighting disabled people – and that should terrify us all | Zoe Williams
The messaging that suggests poverty is caused by low aspiration and that disability is a choice could have come straight from the Conservatives’ playbook, writes Zoe Williams

This.
They’ll U-Turn on PIP because that’s the only cut that would have to go to a vote. As @richardburgon.bsky.social says - “That’s not enough. All the other cuts would still punish disabled and vulnerable people.”

For those posting the 'Benefit U-Turn' articles, please don't assume that this means all the proposed measures that have been leaked are being cut. They're not. The articles only mention the 1 yr freeze on increasing the pip rate in line with inflation.

This is the one element of welfare for which a cut would need a Commons vote.

WCA, LCWRA. ESA and Universal Credit remain battle grounds.

Labour’s “working people” mantra is being revealed for the sickening nonsense it is by the context of the attack on the ill and disabled.

Add it to the 2 child benefit cap and it’s clear - #RachelReeves is only concerned about economic units.

Sickening.

2️⃣ The Climate Change Committee has its hands tied—obliged to stay within economic business-as-usual, limiting additional public spending to just 2%!

Government therefore never even gets to consider how fast we could transition with stronger public investment in things like wind power & insulation.

For the media trying to blame low Black Friday sales, (which is also wrong) on the #chancellor's budget

"Despite the timing of #BlackFriday two days after the Chancellor’s #Budget, concerns about the #fiscalevent are only cited by 7% of those not interested..."
