I do think the fundamental belief of Republican members of Congress is that they're untouchable, that consequences are for little people or beasts of burden (frontliners)
i think it’s mostly cult following coupled with a willful ignorance of who their constituents are. like, most of these guys stopped doing town halls with any regularity months or years ago.
The reason why I don't quite get what the GOP is doing is that people receiving Medicaid are a very slightly GOP leaning (R +2 or so) group.
If one assumes lower participation amongst medicaid users, you're still probably looking at 5-7m of your own voters you're fucking.

It's just one of those things in politics that's very interesting where frontliners are usually House R Leadership's strongest soldiers while Democratic frontliners often keep House D leadership at arm's length (or at least need to be seen as keeping them at arm's length)
