Couldn’t sleep and remembered I had a blood draw on Tuesday. Checked my results.
My TSH levels are very high. I was afraid of this after my hemithyroidectomy last fall.
Will have to talk to my doctor tomorrow, but this means replacement hormone for the rest of my life.
I’m sad.

Exactly one year ago today I had a hemithyroidectomy to remove a tumour on my thyroid.
I'm still here. I'm still cancer-free. I still have half a functioning thyroid, and I got a dope scar out of it.
Anyway, not having cancer is pretty cool. Would 💯 recommend.

Exactly one year ago today I had a hemithyroidectomy to remove a tumour on my thyroid.
I'm still here. I'm still cancer-free. I still have half a functioning thyroid, and I got a dope scar out of it.
Anyway, not having cancer is pretty cool. Would 💯 recommend.

It's exactly one month today since my hemithyroidectomy. This is probably the last pic of me with a whole thyroid and a scarless neck.
But I feel so much better. I can breathe without obstruction and I have energy again, even with half a thyroid. 100% would recommend having tumours removed, haha.

It's exactly one month today since my hemithyroidectomy. This is probably the last pic of me with a whole thyroid and a scarless neck.
But I feel so much better. I can breathe without obstruction and I have energy again, even with half a thyroid. 100% would recommend having tumours removed, haha.

This year started with an ambulance ride to the hospital on day two. Since then I have had a heart ablation for SVTs, had a hemithyroidectomy for thyroid cancer, stayed in the hospital for 7 days with an exceedingly rare blood infection, plus innumerable tests and procedures. Let's not that in 2026.

One year ago today, I had a hemithyroidectomy on the right side. The surgeon removed a 4.6 cm tumor that I would learn was cancerous. I had the left one removed & it was benign. A few weeks ago, I had a neck ultrasound (I had one in March). (1/)

This happened to me. I was seeing a very young GP who changed my bandages after hemithyroidectomy after RPA left me without instructions. I noticed she had a bandage for a needle that was the only clue I got. She just said “we also need to take care of ourselves”.
