High-Functioning Depression: Why Being Productive Isn't the Same as Being Well
Are you the person who has it all together, but feels absolutely nothing? 🦆 Ever heard of the floating duck syndrome? On the surface, you look calm, collected, and remarkably productive. But underneath the waterline, you are paddling frantically just to stay afloat. In this episode, we peel back the polished veneer of high-functioning depression—a state where your external success becomes the very thing that hides your internal collapse. We dive deep into the 10 hidden habits of those living with Persistent Depressive Disorder (PDD) and dysthymia, exploring why "functioning" is not a synonym for "wellness." If you've been running on autopilot, struggling with emotional blunting, or using toxic productivity as a trauma response, this conversation is for you. What we cover in this episode: - The Mask of Success: Why high-status careers often shield us from getting help. - Emotional Blunting vs. Sadness: Why the absence of joy (anhedonia) is more dangerous than crying. - Social Camouflaging: The exhausting art of appearing 'fine' while feeling disconnected. - Burnout vs Depression: How to tell if you need a vacation or a lifestyle intervention. Stop waiting for a total breakdown to validate your struggle. Your pain is real, even if you’re still hitting your deadlines. It’s time to stop social masking and start healing. ✨ Join the conversation: If this resonates with you, share this episode with one person who needs to hear that they don't have to be 'broken' to deserve support. Subscribe now to reclaim your color in a world of grey.

I'm used to 1or2 bits ganging up on me but all and extra new things. C'mon, seriously! 😳

I’m fine- self interpretation of how my headaches/migraines feel. As someone who has daily pain from these, my good days still have pain but I’m so used to it at this point it feels just like immense pressure.

Just because we don't always look ill, doesn't mean we are coping!
