The sky is Imagism.
Only the small can become possible.
“Nature uses only the longest threads to weave her patterns, so that each small piece of her fabric reveals the organization of the entire tapestry.˙''

"What do we remember that was shaped
as this thing
is shaped? while their eyes
fill
with tears. By which
and by the weak wash of crimson
colors it, the rose
is predicated"

"A touch of cold in the Autumn night—
I walked abroad"
– T. E. Hulme, "Autumn"

Influential as poet and critic to the Imagist movement – Ezra Pound included a section in his book Ripostes to Hulme's poetry.

Imagism is the best class. What is a poem, anyway? Can just that be a poem? Talking with kids about art 😎

Very interesting!🙏I enjoyed the review, and Ebner's poetry. I didn't know about Imagism with a capital I, though familiar with the horror of Pound's politics. I love this from William Carlos Williams. When does concise & precise use of imagery tip into Imagism, & so become Poundian by association? 🤔

I was a computer science major. I took a class on the literature of modernization and every single thing we covered is glued in my brain. Metropolis, Modern Times, The Wasteland, imagism and vorticism. Understanding art as a machine for generating emotions was such a revelation

Based on the Imagism of Ezra Pound from Chinese poetry, and the dramatic storytelling of Shakespeare, I developed my Poetics of Cinemism in which I employ cinematic techniques of filmmaking to write narrative poetry that presents a set of characters interacting in a landscape.

In 1913, Ezra Pound codified the tenets of Imagism, according to which poets were advised to strip away all superfluous words, and not to use a phrase such as 'dim lands of peace'.

yeah, what he said...

Ancient egyptian imagism has triumphed completely but few, especially on text-based platforms, are willing to admit this

Born on this day in 1874, Amy Lowell (1874–1925) was an American poet and critic who helped shape Imagism and modern poetry. Her bold experiments reshaped poetic form and voice.

Thank you, Jan. Sometimes, I fond it is better to say things plainly without recourse to analogy or imagism.

Silhouettes
Arthur Symons, 1892, a relatively obscure poet and literary critic of the fin de siecle. Poems that really anticipated the imagism of the modernists. And my undergrad advisor warned me over twenty years ago no one would ever take interest in my obsession with him! Haha showed him :)

"Imagism" for "Streetlights... people..." in this one is a clear second, if not a close one in my mind
Just a poet boy
rooting in a cold icebox.

He took your breakfast plums
ate them

any

way.

Some are sweet.
Some are cold.

He left a note just so you're told,

"The plums were so delicious

forgive me, forgive me, forgive me..."

Imagism...

up and down the icebox door...
