I am a huge fan of bioRxiv & medRxiv and Review Commons and I recently spoke with @saramonaco-rc.bsky.social about why. For us, the workflow has been simple and effective:
bioRxiv/medRxiv have been dealing with endless bot attacks recently (plus usual DDOS stuff, etc). Tricky to address without impacting genuine users - many of you affected. Apologies. We're working with our hosting service on solutions & think we're getting there [he shouts in his Red Queen costume].

You can now update bioRxiv/medRxiv preprints with funding information after the fact.
Authors often omit/don't have all funding info when submitting, but funders understandably want it there. This solves the problem without requiring you to submit a whole new paper.
