Nine books I'll never forget. Not my favorites (Crichton would take four slots, as well as McCarthy, Robert Jordan, and Douglas Adams). These are tent poles, each one holding up a different part of me: scifi, phi, pol, theo, phisci, theosci, and one very influential boxed set I read at twelve.

(Layman here) I was thinking about some related topics a few days ago while running. One of them was the costs and returns of scientific research in terms of energy and resources more than economic. I found it so interesting that I decided to start a BsA / BsC in #PhiSci next month.

A powerful reflection by Lorraine Daston on the entangled roots of modernity and science. To understand today's world, we must confront the history of science and its role in shaping Western dominance.

Science denialism extends beyond flat-earthers and anti-vaxxers, infiltrating fields like #history, #economics and #philosophy. For instance, #marxism does not meet today's scientific standards in any aspect, and even Lakatos, once a Marxist/Stalinist, later questioned its scientific status. #phisci

Why don't you just ask? ;-)
1: PhiSci is redundant and provides nothing
2: the relationship between PhiSci and sciences is exploitative
3: all or most endeavours of science are worthwhile
