Exposed phosphatidylserine is an inhibitory molecule in T cell exhaustion - Nature
Insights into the mechanism by which phosphatidylserine functions as a non-classical inhibitory molecule during T cell exhaustion, and how phosphatidylserine-targeting antibodies enhance T cell responses are explored.

We determined structures with and without activating membrane lipid, phosphatidylserine (PS). Working with the Smith lab, we use a combination of methods to propose a mechanism whereby PS stabilizes and induces conformational changes in receptor:ligand complexes to promote kinase domain activation.

Cell surface remodeling caused by the loss of the flippase subunit TMEM30A in immune cells
Summary: TMEM30A loss disrupts membrane lipid asymmetry, increasing phosphatidylserine exposure, membrane dynamics and surface remodeling, linking flippase dysfunction to immune cell interactions.

Phosphatidylserine synthesis tunes IP3R-mediated ER Ca2+ release via phospholipid homeostasis
Phosphatidylserine synthesis tunes IP3R-mediated ER Ca2+ release via phospholipid homeostasis
Zhou et al. found that phosphatidylserine (PS) regulates ER Ca2+ homeostasis by modulating IP3R-mediated Ca2+ release. Manipulating phospholipid composition through the phospholipid-SREBP axis normalizes IP3R-mediated Ca2+ release during PS deficiency.
