The 55 gallon I share with my mom is thriving.
Will need to give a trim in the near future.

I've been keeping shrimp for a few years now and these Jade Green #shrimp are my favorite variety.
Hardy, long-lived, and beautiful--love these little guys.

The tank is looking good. The moneywort plants haven't grown much, but everything else has, and I think there is enough foliage at this point where I can reintroduce some shrimp.

It has also been a useful excuse to revise some Bayesian filtering. I am not a probabilist in my day job.

My hidden state is
x = (N, r, T)
with r the net accumulation rate and T the nitrate concentration of the tap water.

This is the same mathematics as the “nearly constant velocity” model used in target tracking: N takes the role of position and r of velocity.

Tap-water nitrate T is modelled separately as a slowly varying Gaussian random walk. That is an assumption, but a more plausible one than treating the supply as perfectly constant.

Why does algae win when you add more light? Your plants only grow as fast as their scarcest resource allows, and the leftovers feed algae. A 2-minute doodle on Liebig's law. #plantedtank #aquarium youtu.be/b6ps7THxFKY

I haven't posted about my fish tank in a while, but here's how it's going since the last time I posted a photo. The plants are definitely coming along. It is still on a filter, but I'm just not home enough to babysit it through the transition period, so it stays for now.

I did tank maintenance today and planted 3 new kinds of plants in my tank. I hope they thrive. Only thing I didn't do is clear soil from the sand. #aquascape #plantedtank #aquarium #cpd #pygmycory #shrimp #neocaridina #caridina #chihiros #oase

Been looking forward to going to the fish store to stock this baby on my day off all week, but it’s not cycled properly yet. This hobby is a test of patience for sure 😭
What do you think of my setup? I’m pretty proud of it!
