This time we venture closer in and arrive at HR 8799 c, also named Offa.

where to look for "submoons" ("moonmoons" is funnier 😛)

Dynamically favorable hosts for submoons around Jupiter and Saturn
The long-term stability of small bodies orbiting natural satellites (submoons) in the Solar System has been previously investigated using an analytical approximation of a three-body problem, focusing ...

The data originated from a distant planetary system. Voyager II was now in the Andromeda Galaxy!

And there, a planet with ideal conditions for life as we know it — complete with its own moon and submoon — awaited!

Did You Know: Dibella is a moonmoon? As the Imperial Orrery shows, Dibella is a moon of Mara, who is a moon of Zenithar. This makes Dibella a moonmoon, also known as a subsatellite, moonlet, or submoon.

Did you know that moons can have moons of their own?

Astronomers think Saturn’s moon Iapetus might have had a tiny “submoon” in the distant past, but tidal forces eventually ripped it apart.

The debris may have created Iapetus’s remarkable ridge

It's possible for a moon orbiting a planet to have it's own moon, and the term for this is submoon or MOONMOON.

There are some exoplanets orbiting Red Dwarf stars that could have moons with stable moonmoons. They would be very rare because of complex orbital mechanics.

You can call me submoon, moon-moon, or moonito if you’re not into the whole brevity thing

The future sees other lifeforms gazing at their submoon, dreaming of possible journeys to the little satellite. Blissfully unaware, that the eventual “first step” on the submoon, was taken eons before. Just another addition in its long haphazard timeframe

I forgot to post this! This is Elatha, a new boi who is a (very) minor god in a verse with a lot of them! He's the god of the Hound Moon, a small submoon that follows the paths of his twin Aunts' Dancer moons, and is also the god of unseen paths. His name is Elatha, and is a sweeheart

Reminds me that the theoretically possible but so-far unobserved “moon of a moon” is called a submoon, or moonmoon en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subsate...

SPACE FACTS: DAY 152/365🧪🛰️🔭

It is theoretically possible for a moon to have its own moon! Such an object might be called a submoon, a subsatellite, or a moonmoon (my favorite). And although we do not know of any natural moonmoons, there are several artificial moonmoons!
