#supercession
That's more or less true but it also really effaces the specificity of Judaism and implies its supercession by Christianity, which was the logic of Christendom.

“Judeo-Christian” is the polite way of saying “non-muslim Europeans” and Jews are supposed to be thankful for it?

One of these days we're going to have to bring up the awkward fact that the "status quo" everyone defends at the Temple Mount is one where Jewish presence at historically Jewish sites is considered an abominable provocation.

We have enshrined supercession.
This is why I'm doing this. This article describes Jews praying to God at the holiest site in Judaism as an act of violence. Calling it by its Arabic name instead of the Kotel or the Western Wall is a deliberate choice, as is claiming that everyone there is a settler.

Please fucking don't. This isn't helpful, and it isn't accurate. It's deeply obnoxious to tell people they agree about things that they do not agree about, and it's closely tied to the idea of supercession.

As @bentarnoff.com put it, they are now speedrunning two and a half centuries of political thought—constitutions? welfare states? basic income?—while repressing the fact that the obvious telos is the supercession of embodied labor both manual and intellectual.
There’s a basic messaging problem when the value proposition of your technology is human obsolescence.

the supercession of art is social media
Been making this argument for years. One of the radical consequences of hypermediated culture is you have regular people happening upon aesthetic innovation independent from the art world

Did the gentiles do this again for 10/7 this year? Or was it a one supercession and done kinda thing?
Don’t do this.

Oh that’s pure supercession theory.

though i also entirely understand why many jews are tired of many people’s understanding of their faith being mostly derived from warmed over antisemitic christian supercession nonsense

No one wants to abolish a "concept," we want to abolish (positive supercession) the real-world legal policing of ownership and the systems of scarcity it upholds, replacing it with the means of survival which enable human flourishing in art and any other creative expression.

Islam has the same logic except as the latest and final supercession of both. It's also inherent in the Old/New Testament formulation, with the Hebrew texts being read highly selectively as prefiguring Christ.

Jews continuing to exist is inconvenient when a religion requires supercession of Judaism as its origin story. That’s one reason why Jews are so broadly hated.

Although Judaism has lots of rules and legalism, Judaism, both textually, and in its teachings compels us to charity. Which is why all of the progressive Christians I know tend to reject supercession and antisemitic religious ideas. That particular teaching is complicated but I don't feel threatened

Just more la la la supercession.

look i just don't think giving a bunch of trump donors some more money is a compelling national interest for the federal government to exercise an extraördinary supercession of power over provincial governments at a time of heightened instability funded as a trump foreign policy objective.
Canada's boycott of California wine is causing devastating harm to winegrowers.

I'm urging the Canadian government to recognize that California doesn’t agree with these tariff wars, to lift these restrictions, and increase consumer options to strengthen both our economies.

California lawmakers asked Quebec to restore U.S. wine sales after 15 months of restrictions, as vintners face export losses and mounting threats to industry.

Idea: every time Porsche supersedes a brake part, the person who suggested the supercession should get hung up by their thumbs in the center of Stuttgart. Not death, just severe discomfort.

Abolish Datacenters!

meaning their positive supercession by community controlled infrastructure which is administered by folks roleplaying as Lt. Commander Data, friend and comrade and uncorruptible data steward. All Datas to the Datacenters!

anytime it wrote something i liked, i'd briefly be discouraged like "damn, i wish i was that clever"... but then i realized all it was doing was mirroring me. i AM that clever. anything it can do, i can do better. it's a reflection of my potential, not a supercession of my skill. my meat huge

“trans ppl with uteruses experience violence related to that” is not bioessentialist or exclusive of transmisogyny

it’s a non-exclusive statement about the fact that patriarchy hates people with uteruses in a way separate from their gender. Its another layer, not a supercession.

No, it isn't. It's worse than that. Yes, it's used to exclude Islam, but it's also used (almost entirely by Christians) to mean an appropriation and supercession of Judaism by Christianity. It's Christians utterly ignorant about Judaism imposing their own definition upon it.

It would be nice if John could just apply this famous Christian love and shut down the Marcionism, supercession and antisemitism amongst his followers. But he won't. Tale as old as time.

since I'm on a religion-posting tear, I will acknowledge that I'm saying this as someone who wants to convert to Judaism, so obviously there's a bias here

but on top of the uncomfortable supercession when Christians refer to the "God of the Old Testament," the idea that NT God is "nicer" is weird
