#theriomorph
I've been using the term "theriomorph" since it literally means "animal shaped" as opposed to "anthropomorph" or "human shaped"

plus theriomorph doesn't carry the connotation of "wild animal" that feral does.

lord, I hate the term "feral." it makes absolutely no sense in the context of a sapient creature, regardless of body shape. I've been switching to the term "theriomorph" since it literally means "animal shaped" and doesn't connote lack of intelligence.

Do you shorten "theriomorph" to "theri" or "therio" in the same way "anthropomorph" is shortened to "anthro"?

Yes, I'm still slogging through Brad Steiger's sloppy werewolf encyclopedia.

Just for note: “lycanthrope” literally translates as “wolf person” (derived from Greek instead of Anglo-Saxon).

Good generic options range include:
Theriomorph
Werebeast
Wereshifter
Anthromorph (could be a humans-only shifter, though)

"Theriomorph" is the word of the year imo bc "feral" has implications i don't super like and "quad" doesn't cover a whole bunch of other leg layouts u.u

A personal pet peeve of mine: The word "feral" being used for intelligent, sentient, and/or sapient non-anthro animal characters. Feral has a connotation of being wild, aggressive, or unintelligent (think "feral child" or "feral cat.") "Theriomorph" is a more fitting opposite to "anthropomorphic"

The cover of my new book, which I will publish in the next months. But unfortunatley only in german, because a translation is to expensive to me.
