I'm currently away from home for a while. Not very news-worthy on its own, but the place I'm staying at has a name that--translated to English--roughly comes out as "Winter's Box".

I've heard of Pandora's Box before, but this is a new one.
#WingsOfFire #wof #wofWinter #wofQibli #wofKinkajou #dragon
Comic panel showing Qibli the Sandwing and Winter the Icewing. Winter is holding a small box that says "Property of Prince Winter" on it, while Qibli is pleading to see what's inside. He promises to be good and sweep their cave for a month, before finally wailing "Winterrrr!!!". Winter looks disgruntled but is secretly enjoying this. Sketch showing Kinkajou thanking Winter for letting her look into his box the other day, and how it was the coolest thing ever. Winter says "No problem", while Qibli is loudly freaking out behind them.

Smaugust 2026 - "Game"

Bit of a sequel to "Cyber" from my 2024 run, Qibli playing games again. Obviously not canon, since they haven't quite figured out computers yet on Pyrrhia, so it's just a fun what-if.

Wood stocks are too low, sire.

#wof #WingsOfFire #wofWinter #wofQibli #dragon #Stronghold
A two-panel comic. The first one shows a facsimile of a real time strategy computer game (modeled after the game "Stronghold"). There is an overhead-view of a desert landscape with rivers criss-crossing through. There is grassland in the east, with three crops fields built on it. A mouse cursor is hovering over that area. The user interface shows a menu for placing buildings, as well as a grinning dragon holding a scroll with various game statistics on it. Cut to the second panel, where Qibli is playing the game on a computer while Winter watches. Winter asks him what he is doing with the cursor and Qibli replies he wants to build another crops field. This annoys Winter, who cites some kind of ideal resource chain ratio and says three fields are enough. They argue a bit back and forth and Winter suggests Qibli's peasants should revolt and overthrow him. Comic page featuring Qibli and Winter, continuing from the previous post. Winter is still commenting on Qibli playing computer games, criticizing his playstyle. Qibli, looking annoyed, suggests Winter should play himself instead of backseating him all the time. To this Winter is shocked and insists he can't do that. He tries to excuse himself, explaining that he's never learned how to play these games because his parents claimed they were a waste of time and never let him have any. Qibli replies that it's about time he started playing them then, and that if his strategy games are too intimidating to start with, Winter should go see the others and check what they are playing. He calls it a "quest of self-discovery". Winter seems apprehensive and nervous at the idea.

"Refreshed and Ready"
Winter and Qibli graciously give us insight into their daily morning routine, just in time for the end of June.
Happy pride.
#WingsOfFire #wof #wofQibli #wofWinter #wofUmber #dragon
A comic page featuring Winter the Icewing and Qibli the Sandwing. The setting is a cave room with several rock shelves and small water pools and basins, implied to be a kind of bathroom. Winter is standing at a body of water and brushing his teeth. Qibli slinks through the door and past him, prompting Winter to comment that Qibli finally got out of bed and that he is too late to get clean and ready in time for class. Qibli assures him he will be. He grabs a nearby towel and rubs his face with it. Then he puts it away and claims this is all he needs to be ready for the day. Winter is speechless and stunned at this declaration, then hisses and is overtaken by unyielding rage at Qibli's horrid hygiene standards. The last panel is an exaggerated close-up of his face, enraged and wreathed in heavy shadow, with teeth exposed and glowing eyes. A comic page continuing the previous events. Umber the Mudwing knocks at the room entrance and pokes his head through the door. He explains Webs sent him to check up on the two since they weren't there when class started. It then shows Winter, surrounded by soap bubbles, shoving Qibli into a mound of foam and dunking him in water. Only his hand is visible through the foam. Winter declares that Webs will have to wait, as this is "a hygiene emergency." Umber accepts this explanation and bows out. Finally, Qibli resurfaces, gasping for air. A block of soap is in his mouth and he is spitting out more foam. Winter says "Stop eating the soap! You ninny!" as he continues pushing him into the water.

So I've been shown a picture of the front cover of the Darkness of Dragons graphic novel, and... I see what's going on here. You cannot fool me.

I agree! Cast off the shackles of the main story and embrace adaptation! Make it canon!

#WingsOfFire #wof #wofQibli #wofWinter #qinter #dragon
An asinine chimera of an image, haphazardly stitched together from the covers of Wings of Fire graphic novels 7 and 10. They feature Winter and Qibli respectively, and are combined in a way to make it seem like the two are holding hands. The creator of this combined image appears to have some issues to work through.

"Spider"

Based on a conversation I had 2 years ago. The title is "spider" and there is discussion of a spider, but no actual spiders depicted in the comic.

Can never have enough Qibli/Winter domestic scenes.

#WingsOfFire #wof #wofQibli #wofWinter #wofMoonwatcher #dragon
A comic featuring Qibli and Winter. Winter wakes up a sleeping Qibli, who groggily wonders what's happening. Winter then informs him that there is a spider in the bathroom. Qibli doesn't know what he is supposed to do with this information. Winter explains that he wants him to get rid of the spider, saying that, as a Sandwing who eats scorpions, Qibli should be able to deal with this problem. Qibli angrily refuses to eat the bathroom spider, to which Winter says he doesn't care how Qibli disposes of the spider, as long as he does so somehow. Qibli then walks into the bathroom, intent to see the spider and making fun of Winter. He then looks at something off-panel (implied to be the spider) and falls silent. Smash cut to both Qibli and Winter now waking up a sleeping Moonwatcher. As Moon gets up, Winter explains that there is a spider in the bathroom, while Qibli sheepishly says "It's a lot bigger than I expected."

I imagine something like this happened in book 6, very shortly after Winter learned about his shared bedroom situation with Qibli.

Here is a quick one: Featuring Six-Claws and Ostrich, as well as the latter's foray into the colorful world of language-learning.

#WingsOfFire #wof #wofSixClaws #wofOstrich #wofSunny #wofQibli
A comic showing a conversation between Six-Claws and Sunny, wherein the former introduces his daughter Ostrich, who is clinging to his shoulder. Six-Claws tells Ostrich to say hello to Sunny. Ostrich then turns towards Sunny and says "Hello, you (censored) Crocodile (censored)." Six-Claws, horrified, covers her mouth and yells out "QIBLEEEH!!!" while Ostrich is laughing. Sunny looks flabbergasted and remarks that Ostrich is like a little Tsunami. The secret twist of course is that she actually learned these words from Thorn.

Sandwings are good at contorting and flattening themselves to crawl into narrow spaces. They do this to hide in places where the ground isn't loose enough for burying oneself. At least that's what I think.

#14 - Feline

#WingsOfFire #wofQibli #wofWinter #wof #dragon #smaugust2025 #smaugust
A comic featuring Qibli the Sandwing who is looking for Winter the Icewing. He comes across a door with a sign that says "No Qiblis allowed" and correctly surmises that Winter must be behind this door. The door has a small gap underneath through which Qibli talks to Winter, telling him that he intends to enter. Winter claims this to be impossible since the door is locked, to which Qibli simply says "Watch me." Qibli then proceeds to squeeze himself through the gap over four panels like a cat. Once all but his feet and tail have made it past the door, he greets Winter with a cheery "Hi there," while Winter can only respond with an exasperated "WHAT!?!". Truly, theirs is a beautiful friendship.

Have we been here before? No, I think I'm imagining things. #wofQibli #wofKinkajou #wofTurtle #smaugust #WingsOfFire #wof #dragon
A comic featuring Qibli the Sandwing, Kinkajou the Rainwing, and Turtle the Seawing exploring some never-before-seen cave. The cave is dark and visibility is limited. Qibli asks Kinkajou if this is the right cave, and whether they have a torch to combat the darkness, but Kinkajou asserts they won't need one. She then kisses Turtle, who immediately gets so flustered he starts glowing green and illuminates the area. Qibli is delighted at the presence of green light.

Not my best work.
(prompt sheet by Pencilcat)
A scene showing the original members of the Jade Winglet sitting in a dark room together. In the foreground is a TV playing a very violent and gore-y movie. Qibli and Winter look thoroughly put-off, with the latter's mouth hanging agape in shocked disgust. Moonwatcher looks awkward, like she doesn't really want to be there, her eyes averted from the screen. Carnelian is really into the movie, wearing a huge grin and having her fists raised in front of her. Kinkajou looks amused and is laughing at the events of the film, somehow completely unfazed. Turtle meanwhile is quietly sobbing into a pillow. In the background, Umber is in the process of leaving the room altogether.

(prompt sheet by Pencilcat)
A scene featuring Qibli the Sandwing, as well as his grandfather Vulture. Vulture is a dragon with pale yellowish scales whose neck is covered in tattoos of dragon skulls. The skulls are small and, from a distance, resemble the black flecks on a leopard's coat. He is wearing a black coat with gold trimmings, and a set of large, spider-themed earrings. He looms large in the background, facing half away from the point of view. In front of him, much smaller in comparison, is Qibli, depicted in pale-golden hues and draped in heavy shadows. His head is lowered and he looks uneasy. The entire scene has a reddish tint to it, as if backlit by fire.

(prompt sheet by Pencilcat)
A comic featuring the Jade Winglet playing a tabletop role-playing game. Moonwatcher is seen surrounded by a mystical aura, her eyes glowing an eerie white as she looks into the future. She begins recounting a sequence of numbers going "14, 11, 7, 12, 1, 20" and states that these are the next numbers Qibli is going to roll. Qibli is happy about this and declares that his character is going to do 5 backflips and then attempt to seduce the Queen. Umber, who is the Dungeon Master for this session, confirms the action and, with a somewhat bemused expression on his face, tells Moonwatcher to see him after the session for a talk. Meanwhile Turtle is wondering why he "dumped Constitution."

A comic featuring Qibli the Sandwing and Winter the Icewing. Qibli is sitting in front of a computer monitor, talon placed on a keyboard. Winter walks in on him and asks him what he is playing, to which Qibli says "Dwarf Fortress". Winter doesn't know what a Dwarf is, so Qibli explains it to be "a kind of scavenger that lives underground and is fat and hairy. Winter becomes interested in the game and wants to see it. The panel then shows the monitor, which is covered in punctuation marks and letters of various colors (this is how Dwarf Fortress used to look). Qibli says "Pretty neat, huh?". Winter is unimpressed and smacks Qibli over the head with his wing.

Turtle is sitting on the ground with his eyes closed in a state of relaxation while holding a can of "Diet Kelp". He is wearing a turtleneck sweater. Kinkajou is leaning against a wall behind him, wearing a shirt with a psychedelic pattern on it. Winter is standing to the right of both of them, arms crossed and wearing a dark button-down shirt. Qibli is resting with his back against a wall next to him, wearing a black tanktop and baggy pants. Moonwatcher is sitting on the floor, wearing a baggy shirt with a red camo-pattern and contemplating a notebook she is holding. Just a normal day at the ice cream parlor.
#WingsOfFire #wofWinter #wofQibli #wofAlba #dragon #wof
A scene showing Qibli the Sandwing and Winter the Icewing seated at a table, eating ice cream sundaes. Winter is holding a spoon and staring at Qibli, mouth agape in abject horror. Qibli has transferred the contents of his sundae onto his face. It now resembles a bizarre bug-eyed walrus creature, with two ice cream scoops and cherries forming the eyeballs and two cylindrical waffles making up the long teeth. A simply-drawn scene showing Winter, discussing the aftermath of the events at the ice cream parlor to a genuflecting Alba. He recounts demanding an explanation, which was met with an exclamation of "Kiss me, I'm a walrus." Alba offers her sympathies and suggests murdering Qibli, to which Winter says "No, but let's keep the option on the table."
