Where and how is #AI put to use?

Open AI - in the real sense - is more trustworthy than all those models of the big few. You can find out where the answers to your prompts come from - beyond listing quotes. You can check on the 'food' the model thrives on. No hidden interests.
A good article in Fortune by David Siegel that explains what "open source" is and why it is good, and then goes on to explain what "open source AI" is and why we need open source AI and not just open weights AI.

A few European tech people draw a scenario about the global AI race, and the role Europe may play.

This race is a short track. Just 5 years. The 4th industrial revolution. And our EU-system seems to be incapable of managing this.

Realistic / hyped / inconsistent?

This is very much the impression I got during the last few months. Where are those enforcing the law we do have now? To protect us from any kind of perpetrators.
Our first episode features @kimlanelaw.bsky.social of @princeton.edu delving into why “Big Law has just gone silent”—and what that signals for democracy in the U.S.

KI ersetzt Arbeit. Die Gewinne fließen nach oben, die Kosten trägt die Gesellschaft. Wer auf öffentlicher Forschung und gesellschaftlichen Daten aufbaut, kann das nicht einfach so stehen lassen.

A good wrap-up of AI‘s current situation. We are heading towards customising the Systems available. That seems to become the market for the big players.
Maybe not the most exciting interview on #AI compared to #OpenAI, #Anthropic, #GoogleDeepMind, or #MicrosoftAI. But the CEO of #MistralAI doesn’t hype; he’s far more practical in the application of AI for enterprises and science.

Sie richten sich gegen korrupte Zustände, lokale Eliten und kommen ohne ideologischen Überbau aus. Trotzdem weisen die vielen Protestbewegungen der letzten Monate weit über Landesgrenzen hinaus.
