I also find it hilarious how universities are justifying these expenditures using the language of 'equity.'"If we don't buy these tools for everyone, then only the rich kids will be able to afford them, and that's unfair." But you don't buy books assigned by profs for anyone? Why not subsidize that!

My general rule is that I am allowed to say I'm going to vote for harm reduction when the politician in question is throwing me under the bus, but I'm not going to demand it of anyone else.
And I don't yell at people who don't want to vote. I find a way to make it more accessible for people who do.

I was in college in Pgh at the time and my roommate’s Arabic class had a police escort for the rest of the semester due to threats and pretty much every non-white friend was harassed on the street. Also greeted by armed police leaving my dorm and told to run down the street bc of an anthrax threat.
There are already articles circulating trying to rewrite history and say America was great after 9/11 and united and thoughtful and just a reminder that that period was marked by intense and insanely racist hatred, paranoia, and a frothing desire for unhinged violence and oppression.

As a non-Car Gal who just wants to be able to make reasonably informed choices about family vehicles and understand the world, I miss Warren Brown. His columns and chat were consistently interesting & informative even when the model he was reviewing was one that held zero appeal for me.
The automotive press has been split between a very specific type of car enthusiast and surface-level non-enthusiasts for a long time now.
As a non-Car Guy who nevertheless knows stuff about cars, I do not feel served at all by the automotive press.

My kids received books from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library when we lived in Ohio and West Virginia. We have since handed most of them down, but a couple are too beloved for us to part with them. This bilingual edition of The Snowy Day is one of our keepers.
