Also Biden pioneered outdoor detention which was incredibly cruel and deadly for migrants and his party didn’t push back or even mention it in most cases.
Similarly, people keep asking me if immigration will get much better if Democrats retake Congress and the answer is "probably not." ICE is largely insulated from Congressional pushback (the 2026 budget reconciliation bill funded them through 2029) and hearings and subpoenas can only do so much.
They're holding up a major escalation in Iran and a crackdown on abortion until after the midterms to limit political damage.

I have friends younger than 38 who look like this and they're wonderful people, and some of the worst people I know are conventionally attractive. Being hateful and misogynistic or kind and compassionate is who you are inside, not what you look like.

Talking recently to family members of people snatched up and expelled to third countries by ICE, I learned: 1) All of those captured were in 287(g) jurisdictions; 2) None of the family members had known what 287(g) was and had erroneously thought people with no arrests were safe.
