Four years ago today, President Biden said, "The pandemic is over. We still have a problem with COVID."

At the time, we were in the 5th COVlD wave. We're now in the 13th.

We’ve reached the “buying electric shock gloves for the secret police” stage of our dystopia.
ICE to spend up to $20m on gloves that can deliver painful electric shocks
According to manufacturer, shock ‘is usually effective in bringing individuals into compliance in less than three seconds’

We received a firsthand report of ICE taking someone from downtown Chicago this morning during a routine immigration check-in at 101 W. Ida B Wells.

In addition to street and court arrests, ICE has been taking people from immigration check-in appointments since before Operation Midway Blitz.
It was a frantic day for Chicagoans yesterday as ICE operations in the city escalated.

Agents abducted a longtime organizer at an ICE check-in site, and separated families inside immigration court. City council members and activists tried to halt the vans.

CPD was there:

Despite official claims to the contrary, federal agents separated families with crowd control support from local police.

iPhone doesn’t do justice to the rust-coloured haze over Toronto, or the stench. I was fine in an N95. Birds were having a bona fide party in an utterly deserted Home Smith Park. Thinking about my impassioned speech in elementary school arguing for the swift implementation of the Kyoto accords.

We can see this in the ICE flight data. Domestic “round-up” flights are spiking, and some activist flight watchers report the flights are getting fuller.

But deportation and removal flights remain steady. This means the concentration camps are getting packed to the brim. It’s awful to comprehend.
ICE is engaged in a very large escalation nationwide, with the agency claiming to be hitting record arrest numbers amid the return of quotas. This has gotten very little attention from the media because ICE learned lessons from the chaotic disasters of Kristi Noem’s tenure.

Keep a watch.
ICE is surging in the Seattle area. (Map shows activity in the last week)

Do you have your whistle with you?

Something I learned a few years ago that's really salient for the heatwave that's about to hit the northeast/mid-atlantic (maybe the south IDK) is that Northeastern prisons have higher rates of heat deaths than southern prisons because of bad heat protocols.

New: We've been tracking reports of ICE activity across Chicagoland for five weeks. In that time, rapid responders have seen an escalation as feds have abducted dozens, caused at least two car crashes, threatened community members with weapons and flouted state courthouse protections.

Federal immigration agents are still swamping Chicagoland. Sightings in multiple city neighborhoods and in the suburbs today, with reports of at least three people being taken.

"ICE is everywhere," the immigrant advocacy/rapid response group Hijos de Migrantes posted in an alert earlier today.

no one should experience these horrors regardless of what they’re accused of

Just my opinion, but this is starting to sound like letting the sheriff spend a million dollars AND unilaterally decide all of the county's ALPR policies
the only other things i have to go on are the "piggyback" contract—which despite the ccso saying multiple times was in cobb county, ga is actually in orange, ca—and whatever the sheriff's office has said publicly about it.

my understanding is the ccso is negotiating its own privacy agreement.
