🇫🇷🥵 France 2026 vs 1961–1990 normal.

Not a single month close to normal: Jan +0.8°C, Feb +3.6°C, Mar +2.7°C, Apr +4.2°C, May +3.7°C, Jun +5.2°C. In April & June >56% of days exceeded P95. Extremes are the new baseline.

Last month, I made some exciting progress, including:

🧶I (finally!) completed 1924, and have officially completed 1/4 of my data set!
🧶I stayed up-to-date on the 2026 blanket.
🧶I started the 1925 section... on a plane in the air!!!

September was a success!

In 2025, all European glacier regions saw a net mass loss, with Iceland recording its 2nd‑largest loss since 1976. It was the 4th year in a row that all 19 global glacier regions lost mass. More insight in #ESOTC2025 from #Copernicus Climate @ecmwf.int and @wmo-global.bsky.social ⬇️

Europe is warming faster than any other continent. Land temperatures rose 2.20 to 2.29°C above pre-industrial levels between 2015 and 2025, well ahead of the global rate of 1.24 to 1.32°C.

This is 2020-2025!

It has an average temperature of 8.4⁰C, with annual averages ranging from 8.0⁰C to 8.8⁰C. It's the warmest decade I've been knitting so far.
