On Saturday my #walktober stroll was with the Met Walkers from @ramblers.org.uk along the #EnglandCoastPath / further #Thames #estuary to Whitstable and got me my first own view of the Maunsell sea forts.

Hythe seafront in broken cloud Beach with fishing vessel drawn up in the middle distance and further beach in the far Some guy taking a selfie. OS Zoomstack base map of the gpx trace of my walk. Today's date, 23.0km, 4h48m and 219m of ascent somehow (I think Garmin counts the wavering between like 5m and 6m as 1m of ascent and cumulates, because the main bit of Folkestone is only like 50m AOD)

In terms of food, the #MaltCafe serves one of the best #breakfasts I’ve ever had. Pretty handy, too, if you plan to walk 15 miles, as we did, from Worthing to Bognor Regis, part of our #EnglandCoastPath.

I've walked almost 1000 miles of the #EnglandCoastPath so far. I love it. But it simply isn't true that you can walk to the coast, turn left or right and walk beside the sea for as long as you like. Landowners prevent access to so many miles of it.

It's hard sometimes to reconcile these paths alongside mud, marsh and creeks as part of the coast path. Its been a long time since we've seen the sea in this direction.

We bunked off jobs to do the next bit of our #EnglandCoastPath walk. Higham (ok not on the coast, but on a disused #UKCanals instead to the QE2 Bridge.

The Thames and Medway canal turned out to be a delight. I love the history behind these waterways.

Back on the #EnglandCoastPath today, carrying on our way around. Having previously reached Rainham I'd been bracing myself for more mud flats and industrial wasteland. I was so wrong....

We had to get back to it first. Why oh why do developers get away with no footpaths?

Heading up both the west side of the #EnglandCoastPath (solo) and the east (with my husband), the contrast couldn't be different at each location I've reached. Photos of above Minehead and coming into Herne Bay.

A quiet morning's stroll along the #EnglandCoastPath between Ramsgate and Broadstairs railway stations.

At least it was until I had to stick my finger in my ear, sing thru' my nose and dance thru' crowds for the final mile as had totally forgotten Folk Week would be on 😇

Darent - I know you mostly from the @thamespathnt.bsky.social / #EnglandCoastPath route that goes up and down to get back to the #Thames and under the #M25, and a brief sighting at a friend's wedding. But what I've seen is wonderful, and you've your own path, so I'll return (12/35)

A wide river has a smaller one flowing into it, with a sandbank stretching to one side. On the other side of the large river are houses. A river winding between shallow muddy banks, passing through a large flood defence barrier (raised) and onwards. Looking down into a river, with trees by its side. The trees are mostly leafless, but there are many leaves on the ground. A thin river flows from one side of the photo to the other, in the distance a flock of sheep are mostly sitting, with trees behind them.
