Electric bicycles, and shared electric bicycles in particular, are a revolutionary transportation technology. Forward-looking cities should be building out the infrastructure necessary to make cycling safe and convenient for everyone who wants to do it.
i recently got a great deal on a barely used folding ebike and i have to say it has revolutionized my train travel. i can get from my front door to the amtrak station in a little less than 5 minutes!!!

Minneapolis NiceRide being scrapped was a public policy failure.
Often the smartest transport investments aren’t the most expensive ones. Villo!, Brussels’ public (e-)bike system, has one of the lowest barriers to entry: €1.50 per day or €3.50 per month for unlimited half-hour rides (€4 per month for e-bikes). At first glance, that might seem unsustainably low. 🧵

Thank Mayor Frey for allowing the contract with #BCBS to lapse & not finding another sponsor for #NiceRide. Another thing he has done to fail #Minneapolis. He can get his cronies security/violence intteruption contracts worth thousands but can't negotiate city bikes. #DontRankFrey
I strongly preferred the Nice Ride bikes we had in Minneapolis where you had to dock them at specific docking stations. Having the bikes littered all over sidewalks and bike paths is really irritating, and trying to _find_ a bike when you need one is less than ideal.

Note that Niceride never used to randomly shut off like the dockless rental bike and scooters do.
Only safe way to participate in a scooter takeover is on your very own privately owned bicycle that can't be shut down at random by the eye in the sky.

If the city is serious about multimodal transportation: bring back NiceRide! People are anxious about going somewhere like a concert and locking their bike? NiceRide bikes would allow them to still bike but not worry about it!

I will NEVER understand why E-Trikes aren't part of the EBike rental fleet in a city. Maybe if our moron Mayor hadn't let NiceRide fold we could have made sure they were.

Yeah, we first came in 2017? Rode all over with NiceRide and it was awesome! Friends went down for the Green Day concert last summer and said renting was prohibitively expensive where they checked so they didn't ride. BYOB!

I've used the Lime Bikes a couple of times and they're way more stable than the platform scooters. I really miss NiceRide here in Minneapolis and St Paul, MN, USA.
Le nouveau vélo Lime en action. Finalement en le voyant avec quelqu’un dessus je vois que le cadre n’est pas assez long pour avoir une version biplace - par contre les roues sont devenues petites sans doute pour être compatibles avec les biplaces annoncés à Paris.
