Nice comment from a student of Philosophy of Religion: "Please continue in this delightful class so that many more students can grow as atheists into better atheists"

If you're in striking distance of Yale this April, come down and see me give a series of three public lectures there!

The overall topic is: "Believe It… Or Not: Religion and Skepticism in Global Philosophy"

and the lectures will be April 7, 8, and 9.

This is one of the examples I always use while teaching #PhilosophyOfReligion and discussing monotheism.

What if God sends people who bet Pascal's wagers to purgatory until their payoff is diminished because they didn't view Him as an end in itself? 😝 #philosophy #philosophyofreligion
First #HoPWaG of the year on early modern philosophy. It's a fun one: what contemporary philosophers have made of Pascal's wager! Would it make sense to bet on the existence of God just because the payoffs are better?

🤔 This week’s Big Question: Is it ever immoral to believe in God?

❓Richard Dawkins argued that religious faith teaches people that believing without evidence is a virtue.

💬 Do you think we are responsible for what we believe?

It would be even more awesome to have all these awesome properties without even existing

Therefore, God does not exist.

Currently listening to Yishai Cohen on "The Opposition of Omnibenevolence Towards Evil" as part of this series (www.torontomu.ca/philosophy/k...)

(Usual caveat, these are just my notes, the talk is clearly better)

I just learnt of the death of Enzo Bianchi. In the last book by him I read he defends the idea of the sociality of heaven. No lonely afterlife can be desirable and human.

The Metaphysics of God: An Exercise in Practical Ontology is my wife Diane's favorite of all my books. It steers a theistic middle path between religionism and atheism. #philosophy #philosophyofreligion #theism

Welcome Kenny!

A new voice to follow on the bluesky, especially if you are interested in #PhilosophyOfReligion, but also in Modern European Philosophy, Epistemology of Testimony etc.!
Hi, I'm new here! Thanks to @elisafreschi.bsky.social for the invite.

I'm a historian of early modern philosophy & philosopher of religion. By way of introduction, perhaps I'll say a bit about some of my forthcoming & in-progress work, to give a sense of what I'm currently thinking about.
