1/ WGGB is very concerned to hear of yet more planned cuts to the BBC as today’s announcement has confirmed speculation that BBC Three, BBC Scotland and BBC Radio 4 Extra linear broadcast services will end in spring 2027

Sent my script off to the Tall Story Pictures script callout this morning after it opened at 9am. And with 11 being my lucky number, I was ticked and hope it’s a good sign that I emailed the company at 9.11am (9+1+1=11) 🤞🏽🙏🏾 #ScriptSkyUK

Quick #scriptsky and #scriptskyuk question.

Is the 'wrong kind of snow' joke still pretty much ubiquitous?. It was when I lived there (until 2015) - I'm assuming the trains are still crap enough that it's in use?

Bolton Film Fest ready(as I'll ever be). I'm bringing "Have a Wonderful Rest of the Day" to a string of 1:1 sessions. So, here goes nothing, and by nothing I mean everything. 💛

HWRD is a horror set in the mid 1990s. And I need coffee.

People power at its finest.

Cut it any way you like but you don’t have a film industry without audiences.

‘Coyote vs. Acme’ includes a message in the film’s end credits thanking the audience for saving the film:

“Dedicated to everyone who posted, shared, held up signs and spoke out when it counted. This film made it to the big screen because of you.”

Being innovative and groundbreaking is hugely underrated IMHO.

But do it well.

This advice also works for writing screenplays and TV scripts. Following ‘perceived’ trends is pointless, because by the time your script meets its audience that “next hot thing” has already passed. Be that next big thing that has an impact.

write the book you want to read because you will have to read it over and over and over when revising

Off the top of my head: you can only approach this in prose *from a viewpoint*. That can be a character or the authorial voice/universe definer, and each will have consequences not only for the thing you’re describing but the reader’s understanding of the perspective…
But yeah, definitely seen quite a few stories where the author is clearly *trying* to do the opening Star Wars shot, or the beginning of The Matrix, and it just doesn't work because the spectacle doesn't impress in prose.

I don't know whether there's any value to you in hearing from someone who rather than being a reader of the issue, was a witness in the room where it happened. But I was an assistant editor at Marvel Comics who happened to be in Len Wein's office and he and Dave Cockrum plotted out that issue.

Re-upping these excellent rules: #scriptsky #scriptskyuk
Back at the old place, I have a thread of Writer Assistant Rules. Thinking now might be the time to preserve them over here:
