The Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) worked to assist the Army both home and abroad. This included rolls such as clerks, drivers, mechanics, telephonists, telegraphers and typists. 50,000 women volunteered throughout the war.

Two WRNS ratings on the quayside at Lowestoft check the air pressure in Electric Contact mines.

The mines laid out in the background were connected together to form mine nets which were used along the French and Belgian coast to counter the operations of coastal U-Boats.

2. Jeannie joined the Queen Mary’s Army Auxiliary Corps (QMAAC). Service No. 46868. Rank Worker.
Jeannie died of pneumonia on 29th October 1918, Perth and Kinross, Scotland aged 20. She is buried at Dalbeattie Cemetery. #WW1 #QMAAC #womenatwar
