Just shows demand for good quality #CycleParking exceeds supply. @brighton-hove.gov.uk has only 150 #BikeHangars (compare w 600+ in #Lambeth). Just two examples of the impact of a lack of secure & quality bike parking outside destinations in Liverpool today. Bikes are easily stolen; parking needs to be at the destination otherwise people will make their own parking.

Agree, working #PublicPumps are the exeception! We've covered them in studies on #CycleParking & always remind councils, train operators etc that they need an ongoing service contract (so do #PublicBikeTools). Just don't have a flat tyre at #Poole station 😱

The city centre is an obvious problem spot. A few more racks on Market, Turl, Ship and St Michael's Streets would make a real difference, and I don't think would be too difficult to do?

Another few spots on Queen St would also be very useful, but obviously more challenging to locate

Removing the cars has also provided plenty of space in areas that might have just accommodated turning vehicles or a tiny of car parking for dozens of customers/residents/visitors to park up - pending a full street improvement (lots of which seemed to be ongoing).
A former wide corner which would have allowed motorists to turn at speed not containing parking spaces for dozens of bicycles. In the background is a tram, and some remaining on street car parking One lane on a road now filled with multiple bike parking stands, each fill of bikes - dozens and dozens of bikes in a space that might have been usable by less than half a dozen cars A cycle street in Ghent - lots of young trees, cycleparking and even on street car parking integrated into a street with a selection of materials including paving stones and cobbles with a narrow road in the middle for vehicles to access the street at a sensible speed.
