This would be a fun game to play by subdiscipline! My candidates:

Phil Mind: The Chinese Room
Epistemology: Is JTB Knowledge
PhilLang: maybe Individualism and the Mental?
Conceptual Engineering's mediocre paper is only a few years old and a book so that doesn't count.

Hey #philosophy #phillang #philosophyoflanguage folks. When is a dog whistle no longer a dog whistle? As in when is it clear to everyone what is meant and it's not signaling to just one group anymore?

Rant on the 'word' immigrant.
A poorly designed word in policy debates.
It includes two categories of people, who should be separate.
Individuals may or may not have gov't approval to take up residence.
The word ignores this distinction.

I don't work primarily in phillang, but smth like Brandom's phillang seems like it could be an ecumenical solution to arguing ab the normative stakes of a sentience–sapience dist re: LLMs. you *wouldn't* need to run a reduction to "humans are (and are only) complex machines."
