An old image from our lab. Coronal section of the brain from one of the early thy1-YFP mouse lines with a (random?) sub-population of neurons labeled. (Feng et al Neuron 28:41). #neuroscience 🧪

Excellent seminar today at #NIH by Yi Zuo from UCSC. What an honor to have her, and a pleasure to hear about her group’s work.

It remains amazing that scientists can see changes in synaptic connectivity in the brains of mice as they learn new things. 🧪

It has been over a decade since @hongkuizeng.bsky.social developed her amazingly impactful gcamp6 TIGRE mice. There is @crisniell.bsky.social ‘s nice thy1 gcamp6 too. Despite improvements in gcamp, these old lines are still the best for large field of view work.

Thy1? CAT 301? A CTIP2 antibody that works in humans? (This one is harder since CTIP doesn't label cytoplasm very well)

The brain uses a lot of energy. But it's not using that energy all the time and at the same intensity. It's not just more neuronal activity = more energy. There is also a lot of background process demending energy. 🧪

Hi Matteo, thank you and please feel free to use it for any purpose. The image is unpublished and taken by me, but it’s quite old! Conditional Thy1-yfp is crossed with Cre-ER. Taken in from the mouse orbitofrontal cortex.
