The adventure actually feels structurally a bit similar to the classic X3: Curse of Xanathon, where forces magically curse the king with insanity and the adventurers must quest to find the culprits and a cure! The Convert is arguably much darker in tone.

I’m looking at Isle of Dread, Castle Amber, and Curse of Xanathon to ask what they reveal about what “exploration” actually meant in early D&D.
