Our labs new work is out today! Proud of this as it connects my grad work with @christhechang.bsky.social to my group's work with lipidation. Key takeaway is PRDX proteins are regulated by active-site lipidation

All the tested fatty acyl-CoAs fully rescued the ATP levels and partially also the synaptic function. Full rescue of the synaptic function required all three fatty acids in combination. We concluded that myristic and palmitic acid therefore likely also have non-energetic roles such as lipidation.

Ever wonder how your cells handle stress? Cells use ROS for important jobs, but too much can lead to disease. In a new study by the Bryan Dickinson Lab, researchers discovered a key process, PRDX S-acylation, that regulates cellular stress & created a tool to track it.

Dynamic PRDX S-acylation modulates ROS stress and signaling
PRDXs are key regulators of ROS. Qiu et al. report that the entire family of PRDXs is regulated by lipidation. They demonstrate that both PRDX lipidation and APT activity respond differentially to str...

Nature Catalysis, Published online: 01 July 2026; doi:10.1038/s41929-026-01560-5Late-stage peptide lipidation remains limited by the scarcity of broadly useful late-stage biocatalysts. Now a rapid screening platform reveals 14 cyanobactin prenyltransferases with diverse reaction patterns, prenyl donor scope and structures that support combinatorial peptide lipidation.

Biogenesis and function of archaeal lipoproteins.

Uncovering the prevalence, key biogenesis enzymes, and biological significance of archaeal lipoproteins - Nature Communications
Lipoproteins are major cell-surface components in archaea, but their functions and the lipidation mechanisms are unclear. Here, Hong et al. identify two proteins required for attachment of proteins to unique archaeal membrane lipids via thioether bonds, and demonstrate their importance in archaeal physiology.
