BAGHDAD — Iraq has set 30 June 2027, as the deadline for bringing weapons held by armed factions under state control, Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi said, outlining a phased process that would also restructure and integrate armed formations into Iraq’s official security institutions. In an interview with The New York Times, al-Zaidi said the disarmament process would proceed in stages, beginning with an initial 90-day period during which armed factions would refrain from attacks while US forces would not strike them.
