I think that the Episcopal Church Medical Trust and their ghastly partner ExpressScripts might have finally worn me down. I went to fill an RX at my neighborhood pharmacy and insurance hiked the cost up from $24.99/mo. to $600/mo. The only way to get it any lower is to get it from ExpressScripts. 😤🕯️

Note: this is good strategy but often not enough. When my wife's biologic was rejected for a step therapy alternative she had already failed, we asked ExpressScripts for this information and they refused to provide it. My employer had to hire an outside review to overturn the decision.

Between Cost Plus Drugs, ExpressScripts, and even Amazon Pharmacy, there are a bajillion mail order pharmacy options. They deliver to your front door, and are usually a quarter the price of CVS or Walgreens or wherever.

ExpressScripts is the absolute worst. They were illegally charging us for birth control when i first was switched to them. Almost every phone conversation I have with them leaves me shaking with rage.

ExpressScripts was especially vile, refusing to quote a price *until it shipped*. At that point, it's too late to cancel. I lived paycheck to paycheck and couldn't afford surprises. It was insane.

How stupid is our health care "system"? My insurance would only preauthorize a prescription through Accredo, the online specialty pharmacy associated with ExpressScripts. The "amount billed" was $4,376.96. (No way to know what insurer paid.)

ExpressScripts tried to send me the safety needle this time. If their needles weren’t so crap I would have pulled this one out when it was obvious I hit something. I don’t bleed often. They sent a thicker gauge needle and I tried new batch. Don’t think I nailed the IM part today, just SubQ B12

Walgreens is involved in vertical integration of their prescription drugs with ExpressScripts. I have been forced to leave my locally owned pharmacy or purchase my life-saving meds without coverage, a difference of over $1k a month. Walgreens can literally die out. I'm glad they were bought by PE.

My husband’s company has 2 options, ExpressScripts or Walgreen’s. I’m not big on mail order. I have to use Accredo for my one medication. xoxo
