As a Setian of the LV-426 Tradition, I believe Set is a real, living God of storms, deserts, nighttime, foreigners, otherness, disruption, and necessary change; He is not just a psychological archetype.

Pictured: The Egyptian God Set (left) with a pentagram in the background. The text to the right reads: Set's Charge to LV-426 Clergy (March 2016): "I am SET; I am the Night Hunter, The Lord of the Wastelands, And the Bringer of Storms. "I haunt the Frontier of Creation; I ritually slay the Mouth of Madness And its uncreated brood. "There is none in the Company of Ra Who can exist without Me. "Do not bow to Me like a slave, But do what is right (Ma'at) in My name, And you shall be warriors enough. "Draw down My Iron To defeat any evil in your midst, And I will accept your victories as offerings. "Speak to Me every seventh night, And We will replenish Our strength together. "I will not fight your battles for you, For I have enough of My own; But you can become Me And KILL THE SERPENT Whenever you have need. "Do all of this, And I will welcome you to the Frontier When you take your last breath."

Yes, it's true; Setianism can intersect with Christianity just as well as it can with Satanism. Set does not play by Christian rules, Satanist rules, or Marvel Cinematic Universe rules, and neither do Setians.

No doubt, some are probably wondering why it took 18 episodes for me to finally address this concept, considering its centrality to certain other varieties of Setianism. This is entirely on purpose.

Drawing of Freddy Krueger in the ancient Egyptian style, with several butcher knives stabbed into his body (the Egyptian way of writing someone's name and then crossing it out, a powerful apotropaic tool for execration).
Drawing of Freddy Krueger in the ancient Egyptian style, with several butcher knives stabbed into his body. This is the Egyptian way of writing someone's name and then crossing it out, which is a powerful tool for execration. To the left of Krueger is the sigil for the LV-426 Tradition of Setianism. The text above reads: "[If] I had a kid and she told me that some freak was coming after her in her dreams, I wouldn't laugh at her or treat her like she's crazy. I'd say, 'Well, it could be one of two things going on here, hon. It could be that there really is some freak coming after you in your dreams; or, it could be that it's just a dream and nothing more. Either way...I say we WHACK the fucker, just in case!"
